Hymn on the Sea
Oh God who smotes the seastorm's strength
and stills the tempest's roar,
Speed Thou my ship through surging seas
and safely into shore.
Stretch forth Thy hand and sweep aside
the gathering gloom and dread;
Bring peace where furies ride the waves
and smooth the course ahead.
And we who seek Thee on the seas
whereever ships may roam,
Release our cares, our life-course calmed,
like children coming home.
